He founded the Krallerhof Hotel. He founded Leogang's first ski school. The ski pioneer Sepp Altenberger senior was a legend in his lifetime.
The passionate racing skier even still took part in the Seniors World Skiing Championship at the age of 86. When he came home from the Second World War in 1945, Sepp decided to work part-time as a ski instructor. In 1952 he got permission to open his own ski school: the Skiszene Altenberger, where professional instructors have now been teaching people to ski and snowboard for over 60 years.
Traditionally right up-to-date. Innovative in its methods. And passionate about what it does. Skiszene Altenberger is a byword for professional instruction for adults and children in the Leogang skiing area. From skiing lessons for children and child care, to group classes for adults (downhill skiing and snowboarding) and private lessons for adults and children, the professional team of local instructors – and some international ones, too – incorporate the latest findings about skiing in their teaching. And with great success, because in 2011 and 2013 Skiszene Altenberger was voted regional winner among Salzburg's ski schools.
